We pretended we were smoking cigarettes. Or, we played being grownups and drinking booze. Why do kids pretend those things? Because we have made them forbidden, and thus exciting.

I was an asthmatic kid who wouldn’t have ever dared to smoke – second hand smoke made me sick – yet I was a kid too and thought it fun to pretend.
