My point is that Islamic extremists consider secular humanists to be enemies to be destroyed.

Actually, you have to spend time reading this site, my other blog (Eric’s Grumbles), Raymond’s blog, etc. to find out that:

1. We are not Christians. Raymond is Wiccan, I’m a Deist. From that, #2 follows fairly obviously.
2. We don’t believe that the bible, or any other religion, provides objective morality.

You jumped to a bunch of conclusions without any basis for them. . I think that the reason you see this as you do is that you are looking at slices of the writing.

Is this memetic warfare? Yes, it has to be. The consistent theme of the past 250 years, at least from my perspective, is a conflict of ideology. Ideology is centers, of course, on ideas. Physical resources are much less important.

The question is, which ideas do you want to win in this series of conflicts? Totalitarianism, Religion and collectivism? Or classic liberalism, secular humanism and individualism?

Of course the article doesn’t really state. The ‘post-modern Left’ is left vague enough that individuals can freely apply the title to whomever they really want, as long as they believe to be on the right themselves.

I’m starting to think these articles themselves are more examples of memetic warfare. No certain aspirations are attacked. For example; “There are no objective standards by which we may judge one culture to be better than another. Anyone who claims that there are such
standards is an evil oppressor.” I presume is applied to anyone who questions the absolute morality of the Bible, in the mind of an conservative. Even though criticism of the Bible is not claim of “no objective standards”.
