And we must remember that just because they don't vocally support terrorists, that doesn't make the majority of Islamic people peaceful by nature.

Peaceful to my mind means actively abhorring violence. Not tolerating or even condoning it.

I've seen no proof of this yet from any mainstream Muslim group.

A few good apples, yes. I'm friends with several. But I'm skeptical.

I guess the public thought it Israel’s problem, even when the B’nai Brith District’s building was taken over in DC and Marion Barry was shot in 19 77. They were black Hanafi Muslims. Maybe they thought it the Nation of Islam or just another group of disgruntled black folk. There was also an assassination by Muslims of a diplomat, but I can’t remember the details to research it. This sort of stuck in my mind, because when MOVE was burned out in the 1980’s. I thought then, what would the city of Philadelphia do, if it had been the Islamic Jihad. Had discussed this with co-worker who had been in Viet Nam. We thought that more than a few blocks would have burned down. Philly would have had a major disaster. I think the anti-Semitism at the time kept any pressure off the government to take any of these threats seriously.
There is such a lack of knowledge of the societies in which Islam flourishes. We expect our values to trump religion and culture. We expected that in Iraq. The way the Israelis’ fight the terrorist is the way we should have fought Al Qaeda. We are not fighting a war of conversion but a war for extinction of the terrorist ideas. We should have gone after bin Laden and persevered until we had him. We need to be as blood thirsty as they because that’s what they understand. It’s revenge. Not some theoretical world view of what could be possible. Al Qaeda is the issue. This not Viet Nam or WWIV. Our attention is too diverted from the task. There is nothing to fear from us, always a place to hide, and they could give a crap about our freedom. Their purpose is justified by their (version) of religion and we should be on a crusade.
