Starting Jan. 1, Texas will restrict smoking in foster parents’ homes at all times and in cars when children are present, says Darrell Azar of the Department of Family and Protective Services.

Should be interesting when my sister-in-law and her 15 year-old daughter who both smoke are driving around.

First they came for smokers, but I did not speak because I wasn’t a smoker.

Then they came for gun owners, but I did not speak because I wasn’t a gun owner.

Then they launched a no knock raid and killed a grandma down the street, but I did not speak because I wasn’t a drug dealer.

Then they came for political speech, but I did not speak because I wasn’t a politician or a political activist.

Then they started condemning private homes to give to developers, but I didn’t speak because my home wasn’t condemned.

Soon, they’ll come for me and who will speak then?

And when we cautioned years ago that this was a slippery slope, and that the war on smoking would eventually enter the home, the anti-smoking forces denied it.
