Courtland Milloy needs to apologize to NH for comparing it to Prince Georges County, MD. The latter has 67% of NH’s population, yet had 15,000 auto thefts to NH’s 1377; 266 murders to NH’s 18; 8232 violent crimes to NH’s 1700, etc., etc.
Prince Georges County is a hell-hole of crime, violence, declining public services and failing schools, yet they brag about all of their millionaires and whine that up-scale retailier don’t want to locate there. The 4000 people in Prince George’s county who claim that they didn’t know that their children had to be vacinated to attend school must have been living in a cave. The shots are free and yet when the county makes appointments for the kids to get shots, many don’t show up.

The distinction between mandatory HPV vaccination and other mandatory immunizations (e.g., MMR) is that the later diseases are communicable and positive externalities are therefore created by universal vaccination against them. The same cannot be said about HPV. An HPV vaccination might be a wise health choice, but there is no basis for it ceasing to be an individual choice.
