Barack Obama’s Filthy Habit

by Brad Warbiany

You know, I know very little about the guy, his politics, or whether he can handle the pressures of the office of the presidency. So far, about the only public knowledge we have on Obama is that he’s black, the ladies love him, he’s clean and articulate, and he’s a Democrat.

And instead of educating us on the character or politics of the man, the media is still focusing on the fact that he’s finally quit smoking. You know, I sometimes I wish we were still back in the days where the media didn’t photograph Roosevelt in a wheelchair, or Kennedy’s relationship with Marilyn was only discussed in the backrooms.

I credit Obama for quitting, though, it’s something that took me 2-3 attempts before I finally did it 3 years ago. But I want to start attacking him for his politics, not reading asinine stories about his love of puppies and long walks on the beach. I’m getting bored watching the media only using the kid gloves on him…

  1. Unfortunately we have to look to Australia for criticism of his policies.

  2. Kid gloves??! What media do you watch/read/listen to? Why not actually read what he writes and votes on, his actual policies and intellectual assessments, and comment on that? Or do you have the “reading habits” of our lovely president? Fool.

  3. Fool? We are criticizing the media for the manner in which they are tackling Obama. Somehow you translate that to us not reading what he writes and says and votes on? And then make a personal attack to top it off. Yet, somehow, we are the fools. pfui.

  4. Jeff,

For the life of me, I’m not sure what the hell you’re talking about… The mainstream media has focused far more on Obama’s narrative and his personality than his governing beliefs. This is starting to change, of course, since his official candidacy (i.e. the fight between Obama, who never had to vote on the war, Hillary, who voted for the war and is retreating from the vote, and Edwards, who voted for it and has since completely apologized), but it’s still not like we have a serious track record on the guy, or that the media has really put the screws to him yet.

And hey, any time you want to compare reading lists, I’m game.

  5. Kevin,

The Australian prime minister said if he were a terrorist he would be praying for a Democratic victory to deliver Barack Obama to the white house.

Does that strike you as intelligent?

Here in Australia, many of us are wondering how the prime minister finds the time to imagine himself inside the mind of a terrorist.

There are other issues besides the prayers of terrorists that we’d all prefer him to work harder at.

Howard’s remarks? Not necessarily, nor do I agree with them. But it is the first issue-based attack on Obama that I’ve seen reported on the American mainstream media. All the other stories in American lamestream media have been about Obama in a swimsuit, how young and good looking he is, how good of an author he is, and whether or not he studied in a madrassa as a teenager.
