Instead, Al Gore produces as much as always, pays something that looks good (carbon offsets), but does nothing to actually reduce the thing he says is evil. Then he sets it up in such a way that he profits from it.

Now, it may be that greenhouse gases are awful, evil things. But, when someone like Al Gore is not only not reducing his carbon output, but he’s profiting from it ……… I start wondering where the scam is. If a corporate entity was doing this, Al Gore’s supporters would be up in arms. When it’s their prophet, not so much.

The greens use this carbon offset mumbo jumbo to allow the liberal elite to maximize the use of their resources and get applauded for it. The hypocrisy here is incredible and the liberal neophytes accept it without a whimper. I think we need to once again teach critical thinking skills to our future greeners so they will ask “why” to both sides not just to the people who are already asking why. If you haven’t asked why we were worried about the coming ice age just 30 years ago and now its global warming then you are lacking the basic instincts of a thinking human. Please, less talk and more thought!

“Electric bills obtained by The Tennessean, however, showed that Gore is paying a premium on his bills to be part of the “green power” program. Gore purchased 108 blocks of “green power” for at least each of the last three months, according to a summary of bills from Nashville Electric Service.

That’s a total of $432 a month spent to pay extra for solar or other renewable energy sources. NES power – outside this program – is derived largely from coal, which emits carbon, a green house gas.

The green power purchased by Gore in those three months is equivalent to recycling 2.48 million aluminum cans, or recycling 286,092 pounds of newspaper, according to comparison figures on the utility’s Web site.”

1) Gore’s family has taken numerous steps to reduce the carbon footprint of their private residence, including signing up for 100 percent green power through Green Power Switch, installing solar panels, and using compact fluorescent bulbs and other energy saving technology.

2) Gore has had a consistent position of purchasing carbon offsets to offset the family’s carbon footprint.
