Accept Global Warming — Or We’ll Kill You

So, some scientists called into question the religion of Global Warming, suggesting that those who were putting forward the narrative were “stifling” debate. In a show of tolerance by those in the “movement”, those scientists have started receiving death threats:

Scientists who questioned mankind’s impact on climate change have received death threats and claim to have been shunned by the scientific community.

They say the debate on global warming has been “hijacked” by a powerful alliance of politicians, scientists and environmentalists who have stifled all questioning about the true environmental impact of carbon dioxide emissions.

Timothy Ball, a former climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg in Canada, has received five deaths threats by email since raising concerns about the degree to which man was affecting climate change.

One of the emails warned that, if he continued to speak out, he would not live to see further global warming.

Voltaire said it best:

It is dangerous to be right in matters on which the established authorities are wrong.

Now, I can’t say who is right. But it’s always dangerous to go against the beliefs of powerful and entrenched interests, whether or not you’re right. Just ask Galileo.

This would seem to be further evidence that the whole global warming issue is a religion to the environmentalists. In medieval days, the rich could buy Indulgences. Indulgences = carbon offsets. In addition, the Catholic Church used to put people to death who refused to convert to Catholicism. Scientists who refuse to accept man made global warming = Inquisition.

So, which is the “establishment”, and which is “Galileo”?

The establishment historically has been the oil and coal industries. The only “religion” has been profits (not prophets). And only very recently has science begun to break into the public’s consciousness, due to more accurate reporting on the part of the media. Corporations have responded to changing public opinion. Science will continue to study and adjust its findings, but the strongest protests to the apparent facts as they present themselves presently are from those, whose world views (usually based on “free market” mythology) are challenged by the state of the science.

It is a fact that certain compounds will absorb more heat than others and they are in our atmosphere. This is like saying that the earth revolves around the sun. The issue is whether it’s man made, if it does have any effect on the earth’s weather or if it is the reason for the overall warming of the atmosphere.
