Thoughts, essays, and writings on Liberty. Written by the heirs of Patrick Henry.

““The real damage is done by those millions who want to ’survive.’ The honest men who just want to be left in peace. Those who don’t want their little lives disturbed by anything bigger than themselves. Those with no sides and no causes. Those who won’t take measure of their own strength, for fear of antagonizing their own weakness. Those who don’t like to make waves or enemies. Those for whom freedom, honour, truth, and principles are only literature. Those who live small, mate small, die small. It’s the reductionist approach to life: if you keep it small, you’ll keep it under control. If you don’t make any noise, the bogeyman won’t find you. But it’s all an illusion, because they die too, those people who roll up their spirits into tiny little balls so as to be safe. Safe?! From what? Life is always on the edge of death; narrow streets lead to the same place as wide avenues, and a little candle burns itself out just like a flaming torch does. I choose my own way to burn.””     Sophie Scholl

Dogs Begin Fleeing Venezuela

by Brad Warbiany

I guess it’s really starting to get ugly!

Stowaway puppy hunts home after surviving harrowing trip from Venezuela

An accidental stowaway from Venezuela, discovered in a ship container by dockworkers at Port Everglades, was being treated Tuesday for dehydration — and mange.

The caramel-colored mutt, a 3-month-old female, was found Thursday in the trailer-sized container among a shipment of tiles. The pup apparently survived a six-day passage from Maracaibo. And she was hungry.

“We opened the container and the dog started running out,” said dock supervisor Rene Pedraza. “Just started looking for food and water.”

Bobbi Miller of the West Palm Beach-based Chesed Foundation, an animal rescue group, took the dog, christened Lana, to a private Palm Beach County vet, who administered intravenous feeding Tuesday.

Hugo Chavez was reported to label the dog a greedy capitalist, when it was revealed that Lana’s first words when exiting the container were “Yo quiero Taco Bell”.

  1. Although I am slightly annoyed that my in-house canine intelligence officer did not inform me of this development…..

I’ve gotta say, if the dogs are fleeing, then Venezuela’s really screwed.

  3. Florida get ready, this is not the first Venezuelan female dog to flee to Miami, Patricia Poleo was the first one and now is when that breed of dogs is going to immigrate in mass.

They can mate with the antiCastro Cubans dogs and make a new breed soon to be known as
    es-cu-ca escualidos cubanos callejeros

  4. Well, I don’t know about any American rat. All the rats seen in Caracas lately spoke with a cuban accent.

  5. Well if you don’t see any american rat I can help you to gain admittance into “Misión MIlagro” -here in Venezuela, and that Mission is for FREE, no capitalism involved- because I asume you are completely blind.
