"Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used and that definite safety rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, and one more safeguard against a tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible."

Yes, Senator, legislators have less protection accorded them than the President, and have the right to defend themselves.

Laymen have even less protection accorded them than legislators, and have the right to defend themselves, too.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander, Senator.

Oh, and I'm pleased to hear you're a "strong supporter" of the 2nd Amendment... you know... since it's in the Constitution and all.

"A" Rating from the NRA. Jim Webb is probably the Strongest Supporter of the Second Amendment the Dems can come up with in the Senate. He's had a permit to carry for years, and has publicly stated repeatedly how strong he supports the Second Amendment.

And unlike many on both sides, Jim Webb has used that weapon in real-life combat situations.
