Forest, Trees, And All That

by Brad Warbiany

The British Health Secretary is missing the point with the Iran hostage deal:

The only wry smile to be derived from the humiliating circumstances in which our 15 sailors and Royal Marines were captured by just six Iranians came from the comment by Patricia Hewitt. “It was deplorable,” pronounced our tight-lipped Health Secretary, “that the woman hostage should be shown smoking. This sends completely the wrong message to our young people.”

What, and having cameras watching them in public is sending them the right message?

The fact that they have public “servants” who have the time and energy to opine so stupidly on such a subject shows just how big the British government has gotten. Doesn’t she have some real health oppression to foist on the unsuspecting public? You know, like trans-fat bans or mandatory exercise?

  1. Would the nanny statist left support go all the way and support war with Iran over this atrocity of allowing the woman hostage to smoke?
