I’ve spent much time here criticizing some the Republican candidates for President, principally Giuliani and McCain, for what seems to me to be a clear bias in favor of authoritarianism and a lack of real committment to individual rights and fiscal restraint.

That doesn’t mean the alternative is any better. Consider this and this

“We’re saying that for American to get back on track, we’re going to cut [the Bush tax cuts] short and not give it to you. We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.” —Hillary Clinton, in a 2004 fundraising speech to wealthy liberals in San Francisco

“We can’t afford to have that money go to the private sector. The money has to go to the federal government because the federal government will spend that money better than the private sector will spend it.”– First Lady Hillary Clinton in a disagreement with a Republican congressman
