OK, Alex, I have to ask; Why should I care how popular Ron Paul is on the internet? What point are you trying to make with these breathless, up-to-the-minute reports?

I honestly don't see how it meaningfully advances any discussion.

The mainstream media (MSM) has been ignoring Ron Paul's spectacular rise (see story for stats and details) across the Internet's top websites. With enough bloggers blogging the details of Ron's incredible online success, the mainstream media will then have to cover it. Wide blogging coverage can break this MSM silence.

I'd love to see Ron Paul get more coverage. No other politician on any stage is as inspiring as him, and we are still over a year away from the presidential elections.

Unfortuntely as an Australian, I can't even vote for him. But I can keep a keen eye on the contenders. Barack Obama seems to be the media darling at the moment, and Border's bookstore now has copies of his book displayed everywhere. Maybe Barack is charismatic, but I don't know why Andrew Sullivan is so infatuated with a Democratic candidate who is anything but a conservative.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 8, 2007

ARLINGTON, VA – Congressman Ron Paul’s support has soared since the first Republican presidential debate. Conservative commentator John McLaughlin, host of “The McLaughlin Group,” cited Ron Paul as having given “the best performance of the debate.” In fact, the Paul campaign’s apparent strength has many other pundits scrambling to explain it. Paul campaign officials offer the following examples of the candidate’s rising success.

Since the debate on May 3, Ron Paul:

1. Handily won two post-debate polls posted by event sponsor MSNBC.

2. Placed a close third (18%) in a post-debate poll on the conservative Drudge Report.

3. Won an ABCNews.com online debate poll with 84%.

4. Won a C-SPAN online GOP candidate poll with 69%.

5. Became the third most-mentioned person in the blogosphere, beating out Paris Hilton, according to the reputable Technorati.com.

6. Produced a YouTube.com video that was ranked the 8th most popular overall video, and the most-viewed political video.

7. Was featured, by popular demand, on the front of Digg.com.

8. Generated so many bulletin posts on MySpace.com that the site owner News Corp. blocked all additional posts about Dr. Paul.

9. Became a “most searched” term on Google and Yahoo!.

10. Saw a quadrupling of daily visitors to RonPaul2008.com.

“These figures speak for themselves,” said campaign chairman Kent Snyder. “Ron Paul has quickly become a strong contender for the GOP nomination because of his powerful message of freedom and limited government.”

Adam:

Ron Paul not getting a fair shake on any of the networks is his greatest weapon. Tht's why supporters like you are so pissed off and get so active - and that's the only way all of us could have ever found out how many of us there really are.

God works in stange ways. As of now, this country still has a chance because of all this - and that's more than I had inititally hoped for,so let's see the bright side of the matter and keep "kicking ass" for Liberty.

This Sunday on the morning news talk shows guess what three Republican candidates will be interviewed and guess which Republican candidate will not appear on any of the talk shows.
Here is the story.

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0507/3955.html

If the media is going to blackout the clear winner of the first Republican debate, Ron Paul, then I say two can play that game.

I will blackout the media Sunday morning to show my protest about Ron Paul media blackout, and will write to these major networks talk shows and demand Ron Paul be on those shows.

Ron Paul is not getting a fair shake on any of networks or mainstream GOP circles. This frankly pisses me off. He's just not getting the respect he deserves; he keeps getting called the GOP's Mike Gravel (aka crazy nutjob). I may not agree with everything Ron Paul says, but IMO he's much more of a legitimate candidate than say Sam Brownback or Tom Tancredo.

PS - just as an example, when I wrote to Andrew this morning, the "previous posts" I cited in my letter were ones where Andrew expressed dissatisfaction with Mitt R., and with Rudy G. I cited them, saying that perhaps he should give more serious attention to Ron Paul. I mentioned having written him twice before about Dr. Paul.

It was very weird to see that post and video so soon after my email went out, let me tell you.
But it is definitely ENCOURAGING, at the same time.
