The more we learn about what went on before Bush’s Folly in Iraq began in March 2003 the clearer it is that George W. Bush will be listed among the worst presidents in U.S. history.

I just hope that our nation can somehow survive all of this bungling.

Doug,

I would argue that all the evidence did not point to the stockpiling of WMD’s. Rather that the available evidence was inconclusive but suspicious.

I actually thought they would find a chemical weapons program simply because of the resources that Iraqi government focused on developing the Al Samoud missile instead of purchasing artillery.

But in the end, there was much room for doubt as well.

Where was the common sense in their preparation and decision to go to war? I never thought it would take extraordinary intelligence to thwart the decision to go to war. There had to be another agenda than the President expressed. I never bought the WMD’s as a reason, because there were so many other ways for the terrorist to get them. We had someone sending anthrax in the mail and found out it was a local variety. How did we know that person would not have hooked up with Al Qaeda? I think we can say that it was wrong for them to go to war in the first place. Knowing what to do after a bad outcome is not the fault of failure to listen to intelligence: it is a failure to understand the Iraqi people. It is a result of “Father Knows Best.”
