Tucker Carlson, bless his heart, has been coming around toward true libertarianism for some time now. Bush and the neocons have forced a lot of intelligent conservatives (and not just a small number of liberals) to start rethinking their views, values and priorities when it comes to giving the government more and more authority to pursue a particular social or cultural agenda. That’s what is potentially historic about Ron Paul’s candidacy: He’s talking about revolutionizing not just the Republican Party, but the way mainstream Americans think about the unchecked power of the modern federal super state. He’s explaining carefully, consistently and precisely to people why it behooves them to demand that government be made and kept smaller. He is bringing home the obvious point that sooner or later, somebody with whom you strongly disagree (like a Bush or a Clinton) is going to gain control of the government, and there’s a pretty good chance you’re going to be aghast at (and possibly very afraid of) what happens next.

Holy crap, who was that? surely that couldnt have been tucker carlson… maybe some of these dick pundits who have said some pretty ridiculous things over the years are actually just actors playing the most popular role at the time.. could tucker actually be a civilized intelligent guy?
