Doesn't really surprise me. Musharraf's forces were largely responsible for allowing bin Laden's escape from Tora Bora, Musharraf has never produced results against al-Qaeda or the Taliban by getting high-value or relevant targets, his military has never cracked down on border incursions into Afghanistan and attacks against our forces there, and there are strong indications that elements of his intelligence services (ISID) have been working with and supporting the Taliban. Hell, Hamid Karzai (Afghanistan's president) has repeatedly told Bush that Musharraf's government is actively responsible for the insurgency. All that and Bush still calls him our ally and sells him weapons. So it doesn't really surprise me that he'd treat the Pakistani government with kid gloves when it comes to grabbing bin Laden. Besides, all Bush ever really cared about was Iraq anyway. Al-Qaeda, 9/11, and Afghanistan were just unwelcome distractions in his personal grudge against Saddam Hussein.

Worst commander-in-chief ever.
