Former Victoria’s Secret Model Abandons Dollar

by Doug Mataconis

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen only wants to be paid in Euros anything except the American dollar from now on:

Nov. 5 (Bloomberg) — Gisele Bundchen wants to remain the world’s richest model and is insisting that she be paid in almost any currency but the U.S. dollar.

Like billionaire investors Warren Buffett and Bill Gross, the Brazilian supermodel, who Forbes magazine says earns more than anyone in her industry, is at the top of a growing list of rich people who have concluded that the currency can only depreciate because Americans led by President George W. Bush are living beyond their means.

Leading libertarians and gold-standard geeks everywhere to wonder — has she read Ludwig von Mises and is she a fan of Ron Paul ?

Gratuitous future campaign poster at Below The Beltway.

  1. Maybe it’s because she reads the Wall Street Journal:

Or maybe it’s because she just happens to spend a lot of time in Europe, likes to shop, and realizes just how bad the purchasing power of our currency is over there.

  2. Great. Even super-models can figure out that our economic plan is not sustainable.

  3. Doug,

My only criticism is that you filed this under “humor”. If anything, the farce of Bernanke reporting inflation numbers of 2-3% that’s funny. This is just sad and disturbing.

Hmmm, maybe I should tell my boss I want to be paid in Euros! I’ll bet he’ll find that hilarious!
