Comments on: Are Libertarians Welcome In The Democratic Party ?

Here is what one of the posters said at the site:

“If you’re smart enough to spell libertarian, you’re smart enough to know that we democrats support progressive taxation, social welfare and strong federal regulations. And we most certainly do NOT think taxation is theft.”

So there it is, we do not have a place with the Democrats even though we may agree with them (at least in words) on a number of other things. You either fall in line on everything or stay out of the party. That is fine with me as I do not think that the Democratic Party is a friend to liberty at all. Most don’t even know what liberty really means and the responsiblity that comes with it or if they do understand it they run as far away from liberty/responsibility as possible.

Heh, heh…no, we’ve got no place in the Democratic party as long as it’s led by people like Pelosi, Murtha and Reid. The Dems are big-government advocates, the only thing that makes them slightly better than the GOP is that they’re at least honest about it. But that’s no reason for libertarians to give them any support.
Bad policy is still bad policy.

Didn’t we already go through this gobbledygook when Moulitsas posted at CATO Unbound?

Name a Democrat willing to even enter into a dialog about Social Security, school vouchers, trade barriers, etc., etc., etc.

“The enemy of my enemy is my friend” is the worst kind of nonsense.
