You missed one more tax that gov’t gets from this: the dividend tax. When the corporation sends a dividend check to its owners from the profits the stockholders pay a tax on that dividend even though it was already taxed at the corporate level.

In general, subsidies suck. They “protect” few while raising the prices one American consumers and businesses alike (see steel industry and what they have done to the automobile industry).

We’re paying 67.5% so the government can take its pound of flesh from us.

And to think, if we would repeal these tariffs, we’d be able to have cheaper shoes and be bleeding heart enough to pay those poor children and poor laborers in third world countries more for their work. HA HA HA. Impossible. ’cause that would be genuinely helping poor people, and that has to be illegal.
