Thoughts, essays, and writings on Liberty. Written by the heirs of Patrick Henry.

“There has grown up in the minds of certain groups in this country the notion that because a man or corporation has made a profit out of the public for a number of years, the government and the courts are charged with the duty of guaranteeing such profit in the future, even in the face of changing circumstances and contrary to public interest. This strange doctrine is not supported by statute or common law. Neither individuals nor corporations have any right to come into court and ask that the clock of history be stopped, or turned back.”     Robert A. Heinlein,    Life Line

Quote Of The Day: Sending Shivers Down My Spine Edition

by Doug Mataconis

Michelle Obama at UCLA:

Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.

(…)

You have to stay at the seat at the table of democracy with a man like Barack Obama not just on Tuesday but in a year from now, in four years from now, in eights years from now, you will have to be engaged.

Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

  1. And yet, you voted for him. Don’t worry though, you were right not to vote for Ron Paul. He actually thinks only 5% of black people have good political views. He obviously isn’t a libertarian.

BTW, I don’t buy the argument that libertarians should vote for Obama because his GOALS are liberal. I agree with Lord Acton that LIBERTY is the highest political end for man, not equality.
