“The essential quality of a free economy is that it cannot be planned. It leaves the solution of problems to the inspiration of the individuals in the untrammeled population. When something approaching a free economy has existed, it has always worked better than the schemes of any planners.” Thomas H. Barber

Chris,
As I said over at Below The Beltway, Obama, the guy who’s running against an old white guy who has been in the Senate for decades chose as his running mate an old white guy who’s been in the Senate for decades.
Not exactly change you can believe in.
Comment by Doug Mataconis — August 23, 2008 @ 3:39 amThe vice presidential nominee does not matter that much. I believe that Biden was chosen for two reasons: he will do what Obama says without question and for the WASPS.

Tell that to George McGovern. Anybody remember Thomas Eagleton, one of the major reasons McGovern’s campaign crashed and burned was standing behind him “1000 percent” only to change the nominee to Sargent Shriver about three days later.
(Eagleton had a history of mental illness. So does Biden, and most other Congresscritters, if you look at the evidence. Eagleton taught politicians not to get help for their mental health problems)
