They are pure corporatists, and fully believe in socialism, the same as all of their corporate buddies. I believe the Founders recognized the necessary fact that a corporation – regardless of size – has to be run under sole-leader/socialist/oligarch methods, and strove to separate that socialist meme from our political venue. I believe that was one of the main forces driving the Anti-Federalists, which thankfully gave us the Freedoms we use today.

The Republicans were never (in recent history, at least) the party of free markets. From letting Enron write our energy policy to giving no-bid contracts to Cheney’s pals, they’ve consistently been the party of corporatism. Bush’s “too big to fail” rhetoric was just verbiage: he was a corporatist before, a corporatist after, and a free-marketer never.
