Defining Both Major Parties in Twenty Words or Less
by Stephen GordonOver at AmSpecBlog, Robert Stacy McCain has launched a contest to see who can best describe the Democratic Party in 20 words or less. Considering that I’m a libertarian, I’m sure my entry won’t win — but here goes anyway: Of the big-government political parties, the Democrats are the ones who favor donkeys over elephants.
I’m wondering how other libertarians might describe the Republican Party, too. My entry for the latter contest is pretty much the same: Of the big-government political parties, the Republicans are the ones who favor elephants over donkeys.
So who has some better definitions of both major parties?

I’ll give it a shot.
Republicans are pro-war statists who disregard the civil liberties which don’t get them re-elected.
Democrats are pro-war statists who disregard the civil liberties which don’t get them re-elected.

Comment by Stephen Gordon — March 14, 2009 @ 12:11 pmHey, thanks for the shout-out, Stephen, though I should give credit for the “Boot On Your Neck Party” idea to L. Neil Smith.
Comment by Scott Bieser — March 14, 2009 @ 1:38 pmThey could share the same three word slogan:
“We’re not them!!”
Comment by Akston — March 14, 2009 @ 2:16 pmDemocrats = Fascist Party
Republican = Libertarian Party
Libertarian Party = Republicans who don’t win elections
Comment by Eric Dondero — March 14, 2009 @ 2:55 pmDemocrats want to control your money.
Republicans want to control your mind.

Comment by Joshua Holmes — March 15, 2009 @ 9:53 amSimple:
Democrats – Consistently anti-freedom.
Republicans – Inconsistently anti-freedom.
Comment by Quincy — March 15, 2009 @ 12:25 pmAs regards life and death:
Democrats will kill you before you are born, but not after you are born, unless you want to die.
Republicans will not kill you before you are born, but will after you are born unless of course you want to die.
Not original, can’t remember where it came from, but it stuck.
Comment by John — March 15, 2009 @ 7:48 pmMy bumpersticker:
With the Democrats, it’s man against man,
With the Republicans, it’s just the opposite.
PEACE
