I never watched her show before; you were the only reason it was worth watching (nothing put a left wing circle jerk up to that point). Rachel Maddow is a twit.

Also funny, how she throws around the words “Ron Paul,” and “Libertarian Party,” in the same sentences, and completely ignores Bob Barr.

Paul refuted the LP numerous times in 2008. But to Maddow, Libertarian Party, Ron Paul, it’s all the same.

Seems like their squirming to come up with a viable opposition position on this. On one hand they say that Ron Paulists are not supporting the events, and then they admit that Ron Paul himself will be attending one of the Tea Parties.

Can’t have it both ways.

Clear sign that the Far Left represented by Maddow, is just beside themselves over the Tea Parties, and don’t know how to respond.

It might be true to say that the Libertarian Party has little influence with Republicans on The Hill, but not true of the RLC, even to this day. If anything the complete opposite is true. Libertarian Republicans get treated far more friendlier and with greater respect in Congress, than even conservatives. I suspect, cause we’re more unique, plus it’s “cool” to associate with libertarians.

You should have left the teabags at home imo. Ana Marie Cox and Maddow have taken the lead on the Left in mocking its double meaning for a while now. They even gave Ron Paulers credit for not using the “teabag” concept. And what do you do? Bring teabags and, um, flail them around.

You were better towards the end and took a nice potshot at Alan Keyes. Good stuff nonetheless…especially for your first time.

One thing that I thought when I watched it was Rachel’s question about Republicans courting libertarians, and the response I would have made was this:

“Well, the Republicans court libertarians quite a bit — every time they’re out of power, it seems. Once they gain a majority, though, they forget us and proceed to use their majority to grow the size of government, as we’ve seen over the last 8 years.”

Between you on MSNBC and Jason on Fox, I’m wondering when I get my day in the sun… Who wants to interview the radical who will publicly admit to having anarchist leanings?

Better still was his response to the “caught me off guard moment when Maddow had to say “touche” on his Alan Keyes response.

When she introduced the segment where Stephen was the guest, her tone changed. Did I note a hint of impartiality there? Certainly, there seemed to be less jeering. She correctly reported the grassroots origins of recent Tea Parties as stemming from Ron Paul supporters.

I found Stephen’s swipes at the Republican astroturfers more directed and entertaining than Ms. Maddow’s. I enjoyed the sweetener references.

All in all, I think it’s important to emphasize the genuine grassroots nature of these events and resist allowing opportunists from diluting the message. Getting coverage from any national program is good, provided it highlights the concepts which fueled these events in the first place.

Unfortunately for me, I still feel like I need a shower after watching either Fox News or MSNBC.
