Do you actually have any metrics to support your contention that it was mostly the Far Left Libertarians against the Patriot Act? For some reason I’m doubting you do.

Since you conjecture it was “mostly” the far left, I’ll do the same in stating it wasn’t. I’d say there was marginally more due to the irrational Bush hatred in the far left, but that doesn’t give the left the “mostly” you seem to be pushing.

And where exactly is the far left libertarians now that Obama is using the exact same Patriot Act and same secrecy standards that Bush used?

The current conflict is more important than WWII.

I certainly think we can be more efficient than we have been, in all classes of spending. But, national defense means protecting the lives, property, and interests of US citizens wherever that fight may lay. The General Welfare again means the interests of the people, to include justice & equal opportunity before the law. That really is supposed to be the limit of government.

Whatever cost that may require, be it money or blood, is the cost that must be paid by every generation. Any hesitance from that duty is simply mortgaging it at a higher price to a few years later, again to be paid in both money and blood.

Also, many libertarians were supportive of President Bush, still are. Recall he appointed former Libertarian Party State Chair Gayle Norton to his Cabinet, and gave “Wild Bill” Evers longtime LNC member a prominent appointment in his Education Dept.

In 2004, “Libertarians for Bush” helped to re-elect the President. On one single day the Libertarians for Bush site received 30,000 hits!

So, PLEASE do not pretend to speak for the entire libertarian movement, especially when such views represent one wing of our movement.

Um, Bush tried to regulate the financial markets, and the Dems wouldn’t wouldn’t let him.

Not that I’m a fan of either party … I blame Carter for starting the idea of “White bankers are racists for not giving loans to poor people who can’t afford to pay them back, since percentage wise, more of them are black.”

If the president isn’t focused on politics, would he please be so kind as to cease taking from my children and grandchildren money they haven’t yet earned.

I’m pretty sure we’ve been borrowing from future generations ever since the start of the Iraq War when Bush took a budget surplus and turned it into the largest deficit in our nation’s history. I don’t blame Obama for trying to get us out of this economic disaster — I blame Bush and failed policies (like complete deregulation of the financial markets) for putting us here.

And honestly, when it comes to immigration and terrorism, Bush had a similar policy — only it was targeting the rest of the world. If you’re against “my government” and country than you’re a terrorist and we’ll spend all of our future generations’ money and resources in order to wipe you out.

No difference here except at least Obama isnt saying “FU” to the rest of the world, and our allies.
