I checked with the Vegas odds makers. They say it’s more likely that Obama will hassle a union than any Republican in Congress might understand your principled statement. Oh, and the odds of The Light of Chicago hassling a union are 7000 to 1, against.

This is right on the mark. I came across a similar idea when I re-watched the amazing documentary “Commanding Heights”. In that documentary Keith Joseph, “Mad Monk” and architect of the Thatcher Revolution said:

“I thought I was a Conservative. I thought I was a Conservative, but all the time I was in favor of… I was in favor of shortcuts to Utopia. He then went on a tour across the UK to present the case for free markets. He went into the “lions den” of socialist college campuses and students met his “penetrating argument by chucking flour bombs at him.”

If someone culpable like Boehner did a similar “mea maxima culpa”, resigned his position (or promised to do so) and went on a similar “preaching tour” I think that would be the GOP’s best shot. Although Paul Ryan would be a better spokesman imo.

Instead they’ve got some b.s. “pizza parties” with zero credibility and intellectual backbone.
