Incidentally, was the government legitimate since the society deciding on a segregation government included black people?

Better yet, when German society, including Jews who were allowed to vote in elections, decided to institute the Third Reich, were the Jews somehow obligated to obey the orders to march into the gas chambers? After all, German society has collectively decided on a final solution to the Jewish problem, right?

I was recently discussing the idea of privatized law enforcement with an acquaintance and was dismissed with the comment “That would be like the mafia”. Coming from a person who supports unions, government health care and increased government control of the economy I found that statement to be akin to the proverbial pot & kettle.

Faced with that mindset, which is foreign to my way of thinking, I often find myself at a loss for words.

If one can forestall an emotional knee-jerk reaction and weigh these points rationally, the perspective afforded is most illuminating.
