Quote Of The Day
by Brad WarbianyBruce @ QandO, responding to this story about Obama pushing a “surge” of air marshals:
Mr. Obama – the idea is to get them before they get on the freakin’ airplane.
As he goes on to point out, passengers (due to human self-preservation instincts) have proven remarkably able to take down terrorists in-flight. Perhaps Obama should wonder how this guy got through all the security theater onto the plane at all.

…or maybe he should look into more of the reason WHY he was willing to do what he did…

Two reasons:
Comment by Logan Boettcher — January 7, 2010 @ 12:04 pm1. The security theater does not have the same urgency for self-preservation as passengers because terrorists want to blow up the plane, not the security line.
2. The security theater does not have any market incentive to provide good results. The airliner does not want to be seen as an unsafe airline and also does not want its core investment blown up in the sky. It will demand top notch security, and if that security company fails, they will fire them. The TSA is not in any danger of losing business with the airlines, so failure is an option they’re willing to take.
or maybe we should look to the government of the Netherlands for answers.
