BTW I have seen a lot of commentary on this topic on liberal blogs. Some supportive, but most against it. I’m actually surprised The Liberty Papers is only now finding out about this.

One word – religion. It’s alot easier for organized religion to get average people worked up about behavioral topics like gay marriage than more large-scale societal issues that probably seem abstract to them but have more effect on them than they think.

What’s all the raucous over gay marriage? There are worse problems like individuals, who, because of selfish reasons conspire to false imprisonment, malicious prosecution, judicial injustice and impropriety, prosecution for the sake of prosecution, lack of funds for legal aid to prove their innocence and/or other errors of one kind or another, have been wrongfully accused and wrongfully convicted of a crime which they did not commit and have been left to languish resulting in loss of liberty, civil rights, productive lifestyles, financial and personal ruin, mental anguish, social condemnation and personal and family embarassment for the remainder of their lives while being tortured. No one cares about that!

Obama executes a widespread habit to not follow separation of powers: A theoretical model for governance, common in democratic states, which features the division of sovereign power into at least three (but sometimes up to six) organs of state in order to forestall tyranny, by preventing the acquisition of a monopoly of power by a monarch or oligarchy (en.wiktionary.org/wiki/separation_of_powers); and in 1690, John Locke, in his work “On Civil Government”, wrote that a government can only function effectively and justly if the three functions (powers) of government are independent of each other:

All America, while teaching other nations democracy by war (Iraq e.g.), follows the ancient habit related to Board of Parole. Governor appoints board members temporarily in a judge like mostly scarcely defined mission. At the same time the governor decides correctly about new prison constructions (Schwarzenegger at present). So the Prison Industrial Complex goes running supported by boss eyed Board members. Reason why America enjoys by far world highest prisoner rate: Economic, justice and political interest remain unselected having not fully adopted democratic rules.
