No state will abolish direct election of its Senators. Moreover, having corrupt and stupid state legislatures appoint Senators is hardly the way to freedom.

Don’t waste your time, energy, thinking, or money on the 17th Amendment. It doesn’t matter.

Thumbs-canning for drivers licensing is a newer example of the same, and there are many others.

I think it’s legitimate tyranny over states’ priorities, but it also raises another question: does the cost of modern infrastructure necessitate centralized control of this kind?
